Photo Gallery: Some of Steve's Photos.

Steve has traveled to numerous countries in both Latin America and Asia. He has not stayed at the Hilton, but rather has lived and worked with the people of these countries - often some of the poorest people in the world. But Steve regards these travels as some of the richest times of his life. One of his favorite countries to visit is Guatemala - so close but in so many ways so far away. Lake Atitlan, below, formed in a nine-mile wide volcanic caldera, is surrounded by active volcanoes.

Lake Atitlan - one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.

The Mayans pride themselves in their beautiful woven and embroidered clothing - with each village having a unique style.

The older women of Santiago Atitlan, for example, wear "coronas", or crowns, made from long woven ribbons of cloth.

Steve has learned to appreciate that people the world over have the same goals and same fears for their families as do we - that it tends to be governments that create animosity, isolation, and even sometimes hatred between people.

Of course, the wild plants and animals are also suitable subjects for photography. As an environmental educator Steve has used his photography to educate many about the rainforests. These white-faced capuchin monkeys live in Costa Rica's Manuel Antonio National Park.

In fulfilling a lifelong dream, Steve recently traveled to Alaska with his family, visiting a number of this country's most spectacular national parks. As a member of the National Parks Conservation Association, Steve actively supports the preservation of these "crown jewels of our nations heritage".  Below, a moose feeds at Denali National Park.

Kenai Fjords National Park, like much of Alaska, has beautiful ocean and snow-capped mountains.

The most awesome national park for animal lovers in the country has to be Katmai National Park - home to over 6,000 Alaskan Brown Bears. In early summer they gather by the rivers waiting for the salmon to start their yearly spawning run. Because there are few visitors (no roads lead to Katmai - one must fly in via floatplane) the bears neither associate humans with food nor are afraid of humans. A very good thing...

This big male weighs around 1100 pounds - and yet could outrun a deer!

And who would have ever thought that one of the cubs could pose so cutely?

Steve loves to experience nature, and wants to work in Congress to make sure that our children, and our children's children, will always have the ability to experience and appreciate our wild places and our wildlife.
